Gah, well. If this was going to have a hiatus anywhere, I'm glad it was here. There are glimmers of hope all through this chapter, for both of them. Not necessarily for Ed and his mission, obvs, but yeah. Ed finally warming to Roy and offering him comfort was beautiful, and Roy's pain is so tangible through your words.
