Fic: Rusted Dawn
Aug. 28th, 2008 10:53 pmThis is jumping the gun slightly, in terms of the timeline I'd imagined to post this story. But I really enjoy posting stories, and it's been quite a while since I've done so, and if ever I was in need of a pick-me-up, today is it. So... we'll just start this ride a bit sooner than planned. The title comes from the inspiration point for the story- "Rusted Dawn" by Calla, but goddammit, this is NOT a songfic. Yeah, it's placeholder-y, but I'm too fried to come up with another title at the moment.
Title: Rusted Dawn
Rating: PG here; NC-17 overall
Warnings: This is grudgefic. It's an exorcism of bad emotion, and in that light is meant to be somewhat brutal. Not violent, you understand, but I'm doing the characters no favors. And a million, bajillion thanks go to
evil_whimsey, who is absolutely amazing when it comes to picking apart themes and story structure, as well as keeping me honest.
This is also a work in progress. There's a fair amount past this point already written, but I'll be doling it out bit by bit, because I'm still writing and only now approaching the midway point. But it's pretty well mapped, so hopefully the writing progress will continue apace, and won't delay regular updates.
Summary: It's too close; he's crumbling, and he can't stop the slide into this disaster.
Part 1
( He flips the top sheet over, shakes his head. 'Train schedules, again?' )
